About CAPAL (Canadian Association of Professional Academic Librarians)
Incorporated on June 12, 2013 “CAPAL is a national membership association representing the interests of professional academic librarians in relation to the areas of education, standards, professional practice, ethics, and core principles. CAPAL differs from other library associations in that it is an advocacy group focused on the individual and the profession. Like other academic associations, we aim to work collaboratively with local, provincial and national organizations currently working on behalf of librarians and libraries” (CAPAL, 2015, para. 1).

About the Chapter
Established in February 2015, the University of Alberta CAPAL Student Chapter aims to provide both on-campus and online students opportunities to develop professional skills, and engage in discussions with academic librarians and peers. We strive to make events, meetings, and discussions accessible to both student groups through virtual environments, and digital formats.
